Custom Deck Design Options in Acworth

Every home is different — and your deck should be too. CHL Services offers both standard and fully custom deck design packages depending on your needs, budget, and vision.

Standard & Custom Deck Design Packages

We offer standard and custom deck design packages which include pressure treated wood for the deck structure. This is wood that has undergone a special process to make it more durable and less susceptible to decay, insect infestation, mold, and water damage. Pressure treated wood may last up to 10 years or longer if regularly sealed and properly maintained.

You may also want to consider pressure treated wood that is fire retardant. This type of wood resists being ignited and significantly slows the spread of fire.

Deck built with composite Trex material by CHL Services

Composite Decks

CHL Services designs and builds custom decks using composite materials including Trex Decks, FiberON, Moisture Shield, TimberTech and AZEK. These are all popular alternatives to traditional pressure treated wood decks, and they are longer lasting and more durable.

As a Trex Certified Pro, we are vetted and trained to install Trex decks.

The average cost of composite decking has become more cost effective over the years, so if you plan to live in your house more than 10 years, you should consider composite decking. If you factor in the cost to refinish a pressure treated wood deck two times, you actually save money over time with composite decking.

Composite Deck Advantages

Durable and highly resistent to rot, mold, insect infestation, splintering, staining, and fading from the elements.
Virtually maintenance free since they are easy to clean and never require painting or staining.
More cost effective than pressure treated wood decks since they don’t need to be maintained via periodic staining.

TREX Decks

Deck Refinishing

Wood decks become worn and weathered looking over time due to exposure to the elements, so it is important to maintain your deck to keep it looking good. Deck refinishing, also referred to as staining, should be done every two to four years, depending on your deck’s exposure to the sun. The horizontal boards of a deck get more exposure to the sun than the vertical boards and will show wear first.

Before we refinish your deck, we will thoroughly pressure wash it to deep clean it and remove all the debris, mold, and algea. Once your deck is completely dry, the stain is sprayed or rolled on.

We use Behr Stain & Sealer as well as Sherwin Williams Superdeck Stain for deck refinishing. These sealers come in a wide variety of colors and provide increased protection from the elements and the sun’s harmful UV rays.

Deck Repairs

Simple fixes and repairs to a deck can bring an older deck back to life, so we encourage you to talk with us about our deck repair services.

Before we do any repairs on your deck, we must ensure it is built to code according to the Georgia deck building code requirements. If it isn’t build to code, we will make the necessary repairs to ensure it is compliant. We require this since we assume liability for the deck, and a deck that is not code-compliant can be a safety hazard.

Common Deck Repairs

Replacing deck boards and handrail replacement are easy repairs that can be done without spending a lot of money.
Items such as replacing flashing or rotten wood are more involved, but we can do that too.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I cannot say enough great things about Chris and his team. They were on time, friendly, cleaned up, and were extremely helpful in walking us through our options- all around great company to work with! So great in fact, we hired them for a 2nd job before the first was even completed and would still use them again. And the cookies...the cookies were just the perfect cherry on top! Highly recommend!!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. CHL has done two renovations for us and we couldn't be happier. First was creating an office space out of the living room we never used and most recently converting our screened porch to an all year round sunroom with mini split and completely redoing our deck and stairs with TREK. I highly recommend using CHL for any of your renovation needs. We have worked with other contractors years ago and by far CHL is the best! We've never worked with such caring individuals who take pride in the work that they do!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. CHL just completed a major deck overhaul/expansion at our home. We replaced the existing deck, extended a roofline to create a covered space and added an outdoor fireplace. All of the decking and trim was done using Trex composite materials. The result is an incredible living space where we will probably spend the majority of our time as the weather allows. Chris was incredibly helpful with the design and process of selecting colors and trim. His knowledge is second to none and he understands project management better than any contractor we've ever worked with. He and James addressed every concern, answered every question and followed through with every promise. They treated the project as if it was their own house. This was not a small investment but we come away from it completely satisfied and delighted with the outcome.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Fantastic service, communication and results. You can tell these guys get paid by the job not the hour. They show up and work. Took a fraction of the time of our other contractors. Delt with inspections and inspectors perfectly. When we had one issue with the finished project they came agreed handled it professionally and made the adjustment to our satisfaction. Chris runs an integrity based operation that I will use again. Highly recommend.
