Convert a Deck to a Screened Porch

Did you know an existing deck can be converted to a screened in porch? We can help you reimagine your existing deck to create a space that provides more use throughout the year. All or part of your deck can be converted to a screened in porch depending on how much of the area you want to enclose.

Before the conversion, we’ll need to examine your deck to determine the following:

Is your existing deck built to code? We will not convert a deck to a screened porch if the existing deck is not built to code according to the Georgia deck building code requirements. We require this since we assume liability for a screened porch, and a non code-compliant deck can be a safety hazard. If the structure isn’t built to code, we’ll do the necessary repairs to bring it up to code before the conversion.
Can your existing deck handle the weight of a roof? When you convert a deck to a screened porch, we add a roof. This is a lot of additional weight, so we must determine if your deck can handle the load of the roof before we begin. If not, we’ll need to rebuild it to ensure it can handle the additional weight.

Convert a Porch to a Screened In Porch

Converting a porch to a screened in porch gives the feeling of being outdoors, but with added protection from the elements. They can be detached from a home or attached, and we design and build both types of structures.

A porch by definition has a roof above it, so the structure is likely already built to code according to the Georgia deck building requirements. This makes the conversion process simpler and faster. However, if the structure isn’t built to code, we’ll make the necessary repairs before the conversion.
